Equipped with semi-weighted keys and all essential functions, the Novation Launchkey 88 MK3 USB/MIDI keyboard is an excellent choice for the stage and studio, where it proves to be a real workhorse loaded with encoders, faders and touch-sensitive pads that feature polyphonic aftertouch. The Launchkey 88 MK3 even has a built-in arpeggiator and supports chords as well as different keys - hook it up to an external synth via the DIN-MIDI port and you've got a superb standalone machine.
The Novation Launchkey 88 MK3: Semi-Weighted Keys
While 88-note keyboards are usually outfitted with heavy hammer-action keys to mimic the feel of a real acoustic piano, the Launchkey 88 MK3 has lighter, semi-weighted keys which make it easier to play with sounds other than that of a piano, like an organ, a concert harp, strings or drum kits. Also, a lot of virtual instruments these days feature key switches, so having the extra range of an 88-note keyboard is always a welcome bonus, especially if your virtual instrument doesn't boast such a wide range range.
